SWSC Alpine: Shred timing and equipment selection, and THANK YOU!

14 Mar by Jason Weinberger

Hello SWSC Alpine participants -

Timing update for Shred tomorrow:

We do not yet have a final start count but we expect high turnout (most likely over 200 racers!). As such, the timeline I sent yesterday may stretch out a bit, but we will be moving the dual starts along as quickly as possible and will update during the day only if run two needs to begin later than planned. Start order is dictated by time blocks for age groups, and coaches or parents who wish to go head-to-head with program skiers should plan to race during the kids’ time blocks. (For example, I might show up to one of the U8 race runs to lose to Miles.)

Ski choice:

With a radius of 18-19 meters and a nice pitch from the SL start on Franks, U16 and older skiers should probably select SL skis or at most a cheater. U8-U12 skiers should be on GS skis if they have them but a combi/SL is great too. U14 will be a skier choice depending on where skiers are with their ski sizing/radius and comfort level. Consider snow conditions as you make your ski choice.

Other equipment guidelines for panel racing of any radius (from Panel SL to SG):

- Hard-ear helmet
- No pole guards
- No shin guards
- No chin guards

Finally … Suits: Yassssssssss! Wear them, U10s.

We are so grateful for such incredible support for #Shred4Nate in its 7th year and for the enduring impact of Nate’s memory. Thank you!
